6 Ways To Make Packing And Unpacking Easier When Moving Home
If we had to name two things that made moving home a smoother experience, it would be hiring an experienced removals company and being organised with your packing.
Here at Advanced Removals, we love moving customers who have their possessions packed and ready to go. However this is not always the case! Sometimes we have had to do the majority of the packing on the day, so we know exactly how to make packing and unpacking much easier.
Here are 6 recommendations on efficient packing and unpacking:
- When packing your boxes, it is a good idea to start by organise unused items into piles of things that could be ‘donated’ or ‘sold’ to free up space and make you a bit of money in the process.
- Colour-code boxes for each room and hang a colour-coded sign over each door the boxes need to be placed in. This way your removal company will be able to do all of the hard work for you and make sure each box is in the right room.
- Try to avoid creating boxes with the term ‘miscellaneous’ on it as this can be confusing to the removal company and yourself. Always try to assign a box to a specific room.
- After boxes are emptied, break them down and dedicate a spot for all unused boxes to go. Unused boxes can otherwise take up space.
- Unpack a box at a time. Don’t try starting to unpack another box when you’re half way through one already, as this can take longer.
- Consider starting to unpack the kitchen first (and pack it last when moving) as people will become hungry and it is always good to have paper plates and cutlery available for your first few meals.
