Gloucester-based Advanced Removals and Storage has named disability charity National Star as its charity of the year
Advanced Removals and Storage was set up more than 30 years ago. Now run by the son of the original founder, it is most definitely a family removals company.
A team from Advanced Removals will be kickstarting their fundraising efforts by stepping out on 17 March to take part in National Star’s Sunrise Walk.
The company, which employs more than 30 people, also intends to support the charity by donating a cash sum for every move they complete in 2024 and encouraging their customers to do the same.
They will also be offering a ‘move and give’ service to customers. Clothing and homeware items no longer wanted by people moving home will be boxed up and passed onto National Star to sell in its four charity shops.
Geoff Hartwell, Director of Advanced Removals and Storage, said: ‘National Star has long been a beacon of inspiration in our local community, but it wasn’t until I stepped foot on their main campus that I truly grasped the profound impact of their work on the lives of their students.
‘As both a resident and a local business, I am thrilled to announce that we have chosen National Star as our inaugural Charity of the Year. With our support, we aim to contribute to their invaluable efforts in empowering and supporting young people with disabilities, ensuring that their transformative work continues to uplift and enrich countless lives.’

National Star is an award-winning disability charity that works tirelessly to support young people with disabilities to become equal and active citizens in control of their own lives. The charity has three specialist colleges in Gloucestershire, Hereford and Wales and runs long-term homes for young adults with disabilities across Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
